Privacy notice
Cleared to Build drafts responses to city correction letters for builders and design professionals. This notice explains what we collect and what you can ask us to do with it.
What we collect
- Business contact details from public permit records and state contractor and professional license registries: the business name, its address and phone, and a business email published on the firm’s own website.
- The files you send us: correction letters, plan sets and anything else attached to your email, plus the email itself.
Why we collect it
- To contact businesses whose public permit records show a permit in corrections, about a service that may help.
- To prepare, review and deliver the report you asked for, and to bill for it.
- To bill only when the city clears your letter: we use your permit number to check the city’s public permit records for its next review of your project.
- To let you review and change your report online: we keep a copy of each report version on our review page, reachable only through the private link we email you. On that page we measure how it is used (pages opened, buttons pressed) with PostHog, under your project’s reference code rather than your name or email; the text of your letter and anything you type are kept out of those measurements.
How billing works
We bill $99 per permit package: every desk’s letter for one permit and review cycle. Your first package is free. We invoice only after the city clears the comments we covered, and only after showing you what the city did; tell us it isn’t right and we hold the invoice. We bill when the city clears a comment even if you rewrote our response, and we refund you if the city sends a covered comment back after you paid, even if you rewrote it.
How to opt out
Reply “unsubscribe” to any email from us, or write to letters@in.clearedtobuild.com. We stop emailing you and keep your address only on a suppression list, so we do not contact you again.
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information.
How we use letters to improve
We use correction letters and our reports, with names, addresses and permit numbers removed, to improve the accuracy of future reports.
California residents
If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. To make a request, email letters@in.clearedtobuild.com.
